ATL Students for Jena 6

As a follow-up to these Jena videos. Spelman and Morehouse students are doing a march on CNN tomorrow at noon. They’re planning to wear their “Sunday best”, to draw attention to the fact that these types of marches were happening in Atlanta 40 years ago, and that civil rights marches are still necessary.

CNN was late to the game in reporting about the Jena Six, and was trumped to the story by more than a month by the BBC. When they finally got around to a report, Paris Hilton was freed from jail, and the report only aired once. They were making-up for lost ground last night, with live interviews with two of Martin Luther King Jr.’s children. The piece lasted about seven minutes.

I pray the media does not allow this important stroy to get put on shelf in the midst of the media blitz of coverage on O.J. Simpson this week. That this story was covered by the BBC long before our major national stations just shows what a huge problem this is in the US.
